Inquiry Topic: Endanged Animals

Something that we love to learn about is animals- we love being around animals, reading about animals, watching movies about animals- all of it! We especially love talking about animals that are "rare" like snow leopards, penguins, and turtles. We learned that these types of animals are endangered and completed an awesomely fun-tastic inquiry and project-based learning series on them!

The actual project-based learning came from one of our mom's favorite sites- Teachers Pay Teachers. (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Endangered-Species-Expert-Project-Based-Learning-1300028). This one was created by Core Inspiration- a company that specializes in having teachers develop project-based learning activities that align with "Core Skills." In this unit we had to complete the following activities:

Become an Expert
Write a Book
Write a Poem
Create a Collage
Create a Potanimal

We will be showing you our creations from this unit over the next couple of blog posts :)

First, here is what our actual inquiry brainstorm looked like one we finished it:

We ended up learning a lot about global warming and the ozone layer since they affect species so much. We each picked an animal and became an "expert" on that animal- researching it and getting more info.

Jovie picked the Snow Leopard
Zekiah picked the Penguins

We "interacted" with the animals and made a collage of us doing the interaction- it was fun to be with them (even if it was just pretending). Here's what we mean:

Jovie pouncing with the snow leopard

Jovie Feeding her snow leopard

Jovie petting her snow leopard

Zekiah sliding down the hill with the penguins

Zekiah petting his baby penguins

Zekiah Belly Sliding with his friends

There is still more to come with the inquiry! Stay tuned for how you can help too!!!
